I was talking to my colleagues the other day, and the topic got around to how they would never walk out of a movie halfway, no matter how much they dislike it, because they felt that it was just so rude and disrespectful (to the filmmakers and their efforts in making the film, I suppose). And it reminded me of The Revenant. Because I absolutely hated it.
Spotlight won Best Picture! It was a surprise, as The Revenant looked on track to win after picking up two of the major awards, while Spotlight hadn't won anything other than Original Screenplay. But I'm pleased it won.
The Oscars are tomorrow morning, and I wanted to get my predictions in -- or more accurately, my wishlist -- before results are announced. I haven't watched all the movies, much less the documentaries and shorts -- everything I've chosen is based on awards that have already been given out, analyses I've read from entertainment blogs and trade magazines, and pure guesses.
I've already told you how I feel about the winners. Now I'm watching the show and delayed-blogging it.
Since everyone and anyone is analysing who will win and who should win the Oscars tomorrow, let me toss my hat in the ring as well.
